Nano2: High Performance Computing with OpenHPC

Illustration of Nano2 HPC

Figure 1. Overview of the Nano2 HPC system.

During my master's program at Southern University, I designed and built the Nano2 HPC system for Dr. Shizhong Yang's research group, supporting their work in computational materials science, biomedical computing, machine learning, and high-temperature, high-pressure experiments. I have continued to oversee and maintain the system ever since. Key frameworks used in this project:

  • OpenHPC 2 with Rocky Linux 8 and Warewulf 4
  • Slurm Workload Manager
  • OpenMP and Intel One API (Intel Parallel Studio)
  • VASP, LAMMPS, XtalOpt, MedeA, and FitSNAP

Check out Nano2 (monitoring with Prometheus and GUI with Grafana, network forwarding with Ngrok). Before Nano2, I also have experience with Rocks Cluster 6 and 7.
